[100618] Super Junior Choi SiWon casted for drama ‘Athena’, a spin-off production from ‘IRIS’

Super Junior Choi SiWon is known to be casted for upcoming drama ‘Athena: The Goddess Of War’ a spin-off production from large scale action drama ‘IRIS’.

According to an official on 18th June, Choi SiWon has been casted for the drama. He will be taking up the role of Kim JoonHo, a rookie ellite. Earlier speculations for the role casting points to Kim HyunJoong but it seems that the speculations have misfired.

The other stars casted for the drama include Cha SeungWon, Jung WooSeong, SooAe and Lee JiaH, and the first filming was known to have started recently. The shooting will take place in 6 countries including Europe and Japan.

The drama is set to air later this year.

Choi Siwon to be Elite Agent for Athena : Goddess of War

The production of IRIS‘ spin-off series, Athena: Goddess of War, seems to be taking its shape day by day.

As many already know, the series’ star-studded casting consisted of major actors and actresses, including but not limited to Jung Woo Sung, Cha Seung Won, and Soo Ae.

Today, a report has come in and it’s official; Choi Siwon of Super Junior will be joining Athena for a role of a national elite agent named Kim Jun Ho!

This newest addition would undoubtedly attract more viewers, especially the females who was looking forward to some eye candy. Kim Jun Ho will be playing an attractive data analyzing agent at a secret organization by the name of NTS, and will also perform some hardcore action near the end of the show.

A representative revealed, “Ever since he got chosen, Choi Siwon has been regularly attending action-acting schools.” This will also be his second drama in 2010.

Yesung on the Silver Screen

Seems like ELFs may be seeing more of their beloved Super Junior members take the leap to the silver screen.

On May 24th at a press conference for his musical Hong Gildong, Yesung revealed that he was interested in pursuing a career in acting.

“I really want to act. I have sung a lot on TV. But I have a great desire for acting. Doing musical gives me a lot of advantages as it features beautiful songs and requires acting skill. I am into musicals now, but later I’d like to act in dramas and movies, too. Right after Namhansansung I was asked to be a part of Hong Gildong. However, I have been unable to organize my schedule with the fourth album activities.”

He also talked about his experiences in the musical, “I practised really hard (for the first stages) and heard a lot about it”.

“Talking about the representatives of our country, it’s hard to distinguish between Hong Gildong and Lim Kkeokjeong. I want to live like them two…Hong Gildong is a real person whose righteous life I always wanted to live. I also even picked up trash paper,” Yesung commented about his character, earning laughs from those present.

Yesung also explained why he took the role despite having to prepare for his groups 4th album activities at the same time, “There are many other actors with different schedule still saying that they do not practice enough, though. I also wanted to learn more from them. Therefore, I decided to take part again”

Yesung and band mate Lee Sungmin will take the stage one last time June 5th to June 13th at Seoul National Museum of Theater for the encore performance of their musical Hong Gildong. Let’s wish them all the best!

Siwon and Donghae will be Making Hearts Skip Beats

For fans of Yoshiki Nakamura’s manga Skip Beat! this may or may not be some good news. After waiting a year for the appropriate leads to be casted, looks like Ariel Lin need wait no longer for her leading man. It’s finally been confirmed that Super Junior’s Siwon andDonghae will be joining the actress in Taiwan’s adaptation of the beloved manga.

Lin, who has worked with the two before for her music video Fireflies, has graduated with a degree in Korean, so communication shouldn’t be so much of a problem between the three. As a reader of the manga I can say I’m kind of pleased with this, though if the two are going to be the leads then looks like Donghae’s going to be Shou.

Ariel lin has stopped work for about 2 years without filming any shows, and this year, she has accepted two drama offers. The “Beautiful Challenge”(華麗的挑戰) that has been stopped for about a year plus will resume filming. The original male lead Jerry Yan has rejected the offer, and now the new lead will be Korean’s most popular boy group Super Junior’s Siwon and Donghae. The director will still be 鈕承澤. The other drama she will be filming will be a remake of Korean’s “Coffee Prince”. She will play the female lead but the crew is still looking for the male lead.

Ariel lin hasn’t been filming for long and fans even wrote to her company to protest. The agitated fans even wrote to her managers and scold the manager in the company’s official website, saying that why did the company let Ariel Lin sing instead because acting is her main career and she is great at it. Recently, she is busy preparing her second album and her travel-book. The filming will start earliest this year August. As for the Taiwanese version of  “Coffee Prince”, she said that she loved the Korean version and is very excited to take the role.

Also, Ariel Lin will be filming the Taiwanese Version of “Coffee Prince” and will be pairing up with Jerry Yan again.

“Beautiful Challenge”’s male lead has been changing from the initial Jerry Yan, to Wu Chun. After Wu Chun decided to work on movies instead of drama, the male lead has changed back to Jerry Yan. But the second lead is unpleased with his little acting role and decided to quit. Hence, our female lead Ariel Lin has been waiting for her male lead for a year plus already. Now it is finally revealed that Ariel Lin will work with Donghae and Siwon from Super Junior. Earlier on, Ariel Lin has filmed a MV with the both of them and has know them quite well, plus Arial Lin graduated from a Korean Language degree and hence there shouldn’t be any communication problems.
